    Family camping at Jellystone is what family camping is all about.  This is as family friendly as you can get.  This campground was jammed packed with so many fun options for the whole family to explore.  This particular campground was located in Madison, Florida, jellystonefla.com. Play in the Water Hands down my boys enjoyed the inflatable obstacle course in the pond the best.  They opened and closed this water play area.  I will be honest and say I was nervous about letting them go in, but my fears were quickly diminished.  Life vests were required on everyone entering the pond, and staff patrolled the area very well.  My older son kept…

    Essentials – What to pack in your camper

    What to put in your camper?  That is the quintessential question to ask.  You have to treat your camper like your house on wheels.  The basics that you would need in your home are what you will need in your camper. Wal-Mart is not always nearby. There are still somethings that we need that we have not purchased yet, but they are on my imaginary list in my head.  This was a learning experience for us.  Like why did we bring a baking dish, our camper doesn’t even have an oven, to how did we not think to bring grilling tools.     Reed Bingham State Park

    Agreeing on where to go camping can be difficult.  We live in Florida, camping year round is possible and there as so many great options close by.  But for our first camping trip we chose a state park in Georgia, Reed Bingham State Park.  (gastateparks.org/ReedBingham) This was the perfect option for us to try our camper out.  It was not overcrowded.   We never felt like we were being trampled over.  It was a very clean, well organized park with many options for the whole family.  And the restrooms were clean.     Welcome to The Amateur Camper.  I hope to share some of my ideas, musing and misadventures of my family  during our camping experiences in our Jayco travel trailer.
