Souvenirs for Campers and Travelers
No matter where we go we always grabbed something to remember our journey. Collecting souvenirs for campers and travelers is a way to keep the place you visited close to you. To mark your journey and remember the happy memories you created.
If you are looking for an easy collection to start for you or your children, here a few things we have started to collect.
Patches
My husband has been collecting patches to the parks and places we have visited for a few years now. This is a simple, but colorful collection to start and it doesn’t take up much room. Find a creative way to display them or just put them on a bulletin board like he does.
Each one is unique and will represent the place you visited with its own distinctive feature to remember. My favorite patch is from Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. Read about our trip here.
He also collects patches from different police agencies from around the country. This is usually done by trading his agency’s patch with another officer from a different agency. He usually has a few extra patches on hand to trade while we travel, but Police Week in Washington D.C. is where he gets most of the patches.
Magnets
Magnets are another great souvenir for campers and travelers. They don’t take up much room and gift shops almost always have them on hand. My son displays his on a metal letter, and my Mom displays her collection on her refrigerator.
Park Passports
Most state and national parks have stampers on hand for you to mark your visit in a passport. I wish we had started this when we first began going to all the parks. This is something I want my boys to do and I think it would make a great gift along with a pass to either a state park or national parks. You can find them here or at any state or national park.
Coins
My kids love the penny flatting souvenirs. We have several of them laying around the house that I of course can’t find to photograph. This is great souvenir for campers and travelers, but especially for the kids. Creating their own souvenir is the best experience for them.
My husband also collects Challenge Coins from different police agencies from around the country. His display is much better than my kids putting theirs in a secret place that no one remembers. My son’s scout leader made this one. You can find his coin displays here.
Stickers
Stickers also a great way to mark your adventure. They are inexpensive, easy to pack and can be displayed almost anywhere. Most gift shops have them hand.
I recently joined a RV sticker club on Instagram. I have started trading stickers with other campers from around the country. It is so much fun getting new stickers in the mail from people that also enjoy camping.
A great place to get stickers to trade is Sticker Mule. They are fast and the stickers are weatherproof. You need your own artwork to submit before you can complete your order. If you don’t have a logo or a friend that can do it for you, try SamJackson31 on Fiverr. She did my logo and did a fantastic job.
Whatever souvenir you choose to collect just makes the journey more memorable. Find your new adventure and add to your own collections.
Happy Camping!
