Make Your Own Camping Cocoa
I was given this cocoa mix by my Mother -in-Law several years ago. I found it a few weeks before our camping trip to Myakka River State Park. Although it was warm during the day the nights were chilly enough for a nice warm cup of camping cocoa.
Ingredients for Camping Cocoa
- 1 Container of Instant Milk (9.6 oz )
- 1 Powdered Sugar
- 1 Container of Coffee Mate (15 oz)
- 1 Container of Instant Chocolate Mix (14.1 oz)
This makes a lot of cocoa mix. Make sure to have a large airtight container on hand to store it in.
Directions
The directions are simple. Pour out all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. You should sift the ingredients together, but I do not own a sifter, so I used a whisk. Please note, using a whisk will take a lot longer to mix the ingredients.
Be sure to store in an airtight container.
When making the cocoa, heat up 1 cup of water to your desired temperature. Add 1/4-1/2 cup of the cocoa mix to your water and stir well. My boys add more than 1/2 cup to theirs. I have made this mix twice in two weeks. I filled an old quart size mason jar to take on the camping trip.
Camping Cocoa
This is the perfect camping cocoa because it worked out so well for our camping trip. I just heated up water and put it into a portable coffee dispenser. It worked out so well because we were able to make our cocoa to our own tastes.
A quick trip to CVS the night before the camping treat resulted in a surprise cocoa charcuterie board my boys. They loved it!
My oldest son loved putting the peppermints in his cocoa for a minty flavor. The youngest liked his cocoa filled with marshmallows and a candy cane as a stir stick.
The end to a perfect camping night is sipping hot cocoa by a crackling campfire.
Happy Camping!
