Explore the Space Coast at Jetty Park Campground
Jetty Park is a 45-acre beachfront property located inside Port Canaveral. The campground is the perfect spot to explore the Space Coast, relax on the beach, and view ships coming in and out of port. If you are lucky, maybe even a rocket launch.
Campground
Jetty Park offers several different options for campers. Tent sites are available, and full hook-up RV sites and even cabins are other alternatives. No matter what type of camper you are, they have a spot ready for you.
Our campsite was #326. It was fairly easy to back into and had a concrete pad to park on. The site was level and well-maintained. A picnic table was provided. This was a full hook-up site with water, electricity, and sewer. Not all RV sites have sewer, so double-check when booking.
Also, double-check the wattage for your RV. We have a smaller Jayco travel trailer, and when I booked the site, I was so excited to get one with full hookups I neglected to look at the wattage. I had booked a 50 amp site. We had to buy an adapter at the camp store. Just a heads up so you don’t make the same rookie mistake.
Our site did not have a grill or fire pit. Not that we minded. It was so hot last weekend that a fire was totally out of the question. The cabins have grills, though.
Bathhouses are centrally located and are very clean. A dump station is available near the camp store.
Pets are permitted in the campground but not at the day park or the beach. Pets must be on a leash at all times.
Beach
Grab your beach gear and head down to the beach. I loved that the beach was within walking distance from our campsite. We need to invest in a beach wagon if we do any more beach camping, though. Carrying all the beach gear back to the campsite on a hot Florida day was tough.
The beach was amazing. It was not overly crowded and was the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day.
Beach chairs and umbrellas can be rented at the beach at certain times.
A lifeguard was on duty for part of our time at the beach. Just keep in mind one may not always be present, so be mindful of the rip currents.
Make sure to get up early and experience an amazing sunrise over the ocean. It is truly something special you will want to view firsthand. Even our 13-year-old was glad we got him up early to see the sunrise.
I also loved walking the beach in the evening as the sun was about to set. It was so much cooler in the evening hours to enjoy a walk.
Port Canaveral
You will see some amazing ships passing through the port. We were lucky to see a submarine an hour into our arrival. There are so many different types of vessels that can be viewed. The fishing pier was a great spot to view them as they entered and exited the port.
The fishing pier is also a great spot to view a space launch. We were so disappointed that the SpaceX Falcon 9 Starlink rocket launch was canceled. It was storming on Saturday night and the launch was rescheduled several times throughout the night. We were so excited to witness a launch and waited out on the pier late in the evening, only to have it canceled. I believe it went up the following night. To check for future launches try and coordinate with your stay visit here. And good luck! May the weather be in your favor.
