Camping at Huguenot Memorial Park
We spent the weekend camping at Huguenot Memorial Park, a city campground in Jacksonville, Florida. This was the perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of nature, passing ships and relaxing on a white sanded beach. Campsites The campsites at Huguenot are close together, but it didn’t feel crowded to us. We had a corner spot, #43, that was located near the road to the beach. The roadway can be busy with vehicles at times, but traffic stops a 7 at night when the beach closes to vehicles. The campsites have electric hookups, which is fantastic for running your air conditioner in the camper. There are no water hook ups. We…

Two Florida State Parks on Amelia Island
Sometimes in life you miss the boat, for us it was the ferry to Cumberland Island. Although we were disappointed, we discovered two Florida State Parks a short drive away on Amelia Island. We were fortunate enough to have time to explore both of them before heading back to our campsite at Crooked River State Park in Georgia. Fort Clinch State Park The first park we visited on Amelia Island was Fort Clinch State Park. The park itself was one we have tried to make camping reservations at before. It is very popular and the campsites are always full when we have tried to make reservations. If you get the…

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park
Our Father’s Day weekend was spent camping at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a city park with amazing beach access to Jacksonville beaches. We all loved this campground and had a fantastic time exploring all it had to offer. There is a lot of things to do at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, also known as Hanna Park. It was fairly easy to find and is a great location to the beaches. Camping The campsites were a bit small, but offered some privacy will foliage between each site. The sites are full hook-ups, which makes things so much easier, but there is also a dump station located…

Dauphin Island
The boys had a weeklong break from school for Thanksgiving. We thought is would be a great time to go camping. We wanted to go somewhere different, and the boys wanted a beach. So after driving nearly nine hours of a seven hour drive we arrived at Dauphin Island, Alabama at nighttime. Everyone was tired. Therefore as soon as we arrived at the campground we just parked the camper and went to bed. Dauphin Island is a small island located about 40 minutes from Mobile. It is surrounded by the waters of Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The island is very low key. You will not find chain…

Our Favorite Florida Beaches
Having transplanted to Florida from the midwest over ten years ago, we have come to love the beaches of Florida. There is nothing like sitting on a beach, listening to the waves and watching your kids play in the surf. We have been to a lot of beaches in Florida and are still discovering new ones to explore, but we have our favorites. Here is a list of our top 5. Ponce Inlet Ponce Inlet is located just south of Daytona Beach. This is our go to beach. We come here a lot and if we have family visiting, this is the beach we take…
