On our last camping trip at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort we visited Three Sisters Springs by canoe and by the boardwalk. Both had spectacular views of the springs, but it was amazing to be so close to the manatees in the canoe. We spent the weekend at Florida’s newest state parks, Ruby B. Kirby Gilchrist Blue Springs, located near the small town of High Springs. This over 400 acre park was once privately owned and operated from the 1960’s until it was sold to the state in 2017. It is truly a gem that is home to a several natural springs besides Gilchrist. This was one birthday to remember! Kayaking Crystal River with the Get Up and Go Kayaking Manatee Tour. This is a great way to view manatees in their natural habitat and to celebrate a birthday. Crystal River is located in Citrus County, Florida. The city is known as the “Home of the Manatee”. This is a well known manatee viewing area. We began our tour at Kings Bay where several natural springs drain into the water system. This keeps the water’s temperature a constant 72 degrees.
