Hurricane Dorian messed up our weekend plans of camping at the beach. Luckily I was able to snag a last minute reservation at beautiful Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont, Florida. This is such a wonderful place to spend the weekend with lots of activities for my boys to enjoy. Although it was hot, even by Florida standards, we managed to explore this park and have a relaxing weekend of camping. We woke up on a lazy summer Saturday and with a craving for pancakes. With not much going on we decided to take a little day trip to The Old Spanish Sugar Mill for the best pancakes around. Our family had an amazing adventure last night. We experienced a bioluminescence tour at the Merritt Island National Refuge in Florida. Bioluminescence is the creation of light by a living organism and the release of this light. During the months of May-October in Florida you can experience this amazing phenomenon. It was such great weather in Florida this weekend, we decided to go on an adventurous day trip to Rainbow Springs State Park. This is the first time we have been to this beautiful park and it was worth the trip. Location Rainbow Springs is located in Central Florida, near the city of Dunnellson, in Marion County. Salt Springs Recreation Area
Our weekend camping adventure was to Salt Springs Recreation Area. This was an easy drive for us because it was located so close to our home. It made it a relaxing, stress free weekend, full of adventure. Salt Springs Recreation Area is located in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. It is located about 35 miles from Ocala in Marion County. Campsites We loved this campsite. It had everything we needed. There are extra long picnic tables, grills, and fire pits at each site.
