    Rainbow Springs State Park

It was such great weather in Florida this weekend, we decided to go on an adventurous day trip to Rainbow Springs State Park. This is the first time we have been to this beautiful park and it was worth the trip. Location Rainbow Springs is located in Central Florida, near the city of Dunnellson, in Marion County. This would be a great day trip if you are visiting the Tampa or Orlando area. It is a bit of a drive, but a great state park to just relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. History Rainbow Springs and the surrounding area had been inhabited by several cultures for thousands of…

How to Use a Pie Iron

On our campout to Salt Springs Recreation Area we experimented using a pie iron I had gotten my husband for Christmas. This post should probably read “How Not to Use a Pie Iron”. I think we did absolutely everything wrong when we used it for the first time. So learn from our mistakes so that when you try it, you’ll be an expert Pie Iron Camp Chef. Salt Springs Recreation Area

Our weekend camping adventure was to Salt Springs Recreation Area. This was an easy drive for us because it was located so close to our home. It made it a relaxing, stress free weekend, full of adventure. Salt Springs Recreation Area is located in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. It is located about 35 miles from Ocala in Marion County. Campsites We loved this campsite. It had everything we needed. There are extra long picnic tables, grills, and fire pits at each site. Not to mention they are also full hook ups for RVs. The paved parking pad was an added bonus. These are spacious sites with plenty of…

    Caramel Corn

We are getting excited for our next camping adventure next weekend. Hopefully this mild Florida weather will continue with sunny days and cool evenings. Perfect weather for camping. With the Super Bowl tomorrow and coming up with an easy snack to munch on while camping I found my sister’s Caramel Corn Recipe in the bicentennial cookbook my hometown publish a few years ago. I have never made it before but have ate a lot of it. It was an easy recipe to follow and taste so much better than store bought caramel popcorn. I will be making it again, probably next weekend for the campout. I mention my sister a…
