Relaxing at North Beach Camp Resort
We spent a few days this week relaxing at North Beach Camp Resort in Saint Augustine, Florida. It was a great way to social distance, but to also enjoy fresh air at the beach.
Our plans of camping at Anastasia State Park we cancelled a few days before our planned camping trip. Finding this gem of a campground was a stroke of luck.
North Beach Camp Resort is situated off the coast of Saint Augustine on a barrier island. It is ideally located near the beach, which is one the reasons we chose this location to camp.
The campground is close to the historic sites of Saint Augustine. Castillo de San Marcos National Monument is a must. Unfortunately we were unable to tour it because of COVID-19 restrictions, but we have been here several times and have enjoyed it each time.
Campsite
We loved our campsite. If you go I highly recommend site 102. This was such a spacious site, nestled amongst oak trees and palmettos, allowing us plenty of privacy.
My kids loved that it was walking distance from the pool and the ocean. It was so easy to carry our gear back and forth from our campsite.
All the RV campsites have full hookups, a definite bonus. This is something that the state parks don’t usually have and is such a convenience.
Beach
The main reason we stayed at this campground was its close proximity to the beach. We spent most of our time during this camp trip oceanside, enjoying the peaceful setting and the sound the waves crashing onshore. The whole family needed this stress relief.
The uncroweded beach was a great way to social distance. Just be careful crossing A1A to get there, traffic can be busy.
This a great beach to find shells. Don’t forget those flip flops! The sand is hot and the shells can be sharp.
I highly recommend this beach canopy from Sport Brella. It worked out perfectly for my husband and I as we had a bit a shelter from the sun as we watched the boys play in the ocean waves.
Amenities
Beside the beach the only other amenity we used was the pool. The boys loved it and spent a lot of time here. The pool area was kept neat and clean during our stay. There is no lifeguard on duty, so swim at your own risk
Other amenities that are included at the resort are Shuffleboard, a playground (which was closed due to COVID-19), laundry facilities, and restrooms with showers.
If you visit…..
A few things to keep in mind before you go, there are no grills or fire pits at each campsite. There is a community fire pit, but we didn’t use it. We didn’t realize this when planning our campout menu. Glad we had the microwave in the camper. If you plan on grilling make sure to bring your own portable grill.
There is a great restaurant located at the riverside of the campground. Aunt Kate’s is situated along the river with beautiful views. The food was fantastic and the staff attentive and so friendly. Definitely a place to check out when staying in the area.
Finally don’t forget to get up early and experience a sunrise on the beach. It is breathtaking!
North Shore Camp Resort is a lovely campground with shaded and neatly kept campsites. This is a well established campground that is maintained with care. The caretakers are friendly and knowledgeable. We had a relaxing time here and enjoyed every moment making memories with our family.
