Camping at Huguenot Memorial Park
We spent the weekend camping at Huguenot Memorial Park, a city campground in Jacksonville, Florida. This was the perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of nature, passing ships and relaxing on a white sanded beach.
Campsites
The campsites at Huguenot are close together, but it didn’t feel crowded to us. We had a corner spot, #43, that was located near the road to the beach. The roadway can be busy with vehicles at times, but traffic stops a 7 at night when the beach closes to vehicles.
The campsites have electric hookups, which is fantastic for running your air conditioner in the camper. There are no water hook ups. We filled our water tank at home before coming and it lasted us the weekend. There is a water filling station in the park, we just didn’t need it.
There are showers, restrooms and a dump station located in the campground. All were clean and well taken care of.
Each campsite has a fire ring and a picnic table. Make sure to bring your own firewood for your campfire, it is not sold in the campground. We found some at a nearby Lowes. All firewood must come from the Jacksonville area.
Pets
The campground does allow pets. Beach areas and the shorelines are restricted, No Pets Allowed. Make sure to use a leash at all time.
Beach
The beach is the reason for camping here. There is a family beach with no waves close to the campground.
We spent most of our time at the ocean side beach. This was such a pretty beach. The kids loved it!
Make sure to get here early on the weekends. This is a popular beach and it got busy. You can drive on the beach, just make sure you drive a vehicle that is has 4 wheel drive.
I highly recommend getting up early to view the sunrise. It is truly a magnificent thing to watch and experience.
My boys may have complained about getting up so early, but they were amazed at this beautiful sunrise.
Also visit the beach at night. We went right after a storm and spotted this double rainbow.
Before You Go
Before camping at Huguenot Memorial Park make sure to pack for the beach as well as for a camping trip. Check out my post Beach Camping Gear for helpful ideas.
Don’t forget to pack sunscreen and bug spray, you will need both!
We all gave Huguenot Memorial Park Campground a big thumbs up! Everyone enjoyed the beach and watching the massive ships go by.
Just note this campground is close to a naval base. We thought it was fascinating, others may not enjoy the sound of helicopter training. We loved it!
Get out there to explore and find your next camping adventure. Happy Camping!
