We spent a relaxing weekend at beautiful Anastasia State Park in Florida. The park is located in historic St. Augustine and has been on our bucket list for a long time. We finally got to experience why it so loved by campers and beach goers. Camping The campsites at the state park are cozy, meaning they can be a bit tight to back your camper into. Check the warnings on camper size when reserving a site. If the reservation tells you there is an issue, believe it. All campsites come with a fire pit, picnic table, water and electric. Brief History Tomoka became a state park in 1945, but it has a vast history of welcoming visitors. We spent the weekend at Florida’s newest state parks, Ruby B. Kirby Gilchrist Blue Springs, located near the small town of High Springs. This over 400 acre park was once privately owned and operated from the 1960’s until it was sold to the state in 2017. It is truly a gem that is home to a several natural springs besides Gilchrist.
