Have an Amazing Camping Experience at Canopy Oaks

Resort at Canopy Oaks

Our Spring Break plans of camping in Georgia changed last week but we were able to grab a campsite at Resort at Canopy Oaks. We are not resort campers, we usually camp at state parks, but this resort may change our minds. Resort at Canopy Oaks is located outside of Lake Wales, Florida.

Our Campsite

Campsite at Canopy Oaks

This probably the best campsite, site 167, we have ever had while camping. This is a newer resort, so everything is pristine. The site was level, paved and clean. Every site offers full hookups; water, electric and sewer. As well as your own fire pit.

Firewood is available on site at the Country Store.

All sites are spacious, but because the trees are not mature, you can see and hear your neighbors. Might as well get friendly with them. This is a huge campground with over 400 sites.

If RV camping is not your thing they do have adorable cottages to rent.

Amenities

All camping resorts offer amenities, but Resort at Canopy Oaks went above and beyond with its offerings. The favorite spot for my boys was the pool.

This was a beautiful pool for the boys to enjoy with plenty of seating for me to watch them. And poolside drinks were also available.

Although we didn’t try out the Shuffleboard or Bocce Ball courts,

we did try our hand at Pickleball. It did not go as planned. Definitely read up on the Pickleball rules and how to play before you rent equipment at the Country Store.

Also check out the Tiki Bar! It looked amazing, but because we had the boys we didn’t go. They do have live bands playing on certain nights.

Pet Friendly

Canopy Oaks was very pet friendly. This is a fantastic resort to take your dog and many campers did. There are pet waste stations all over the park for your convenience. Our German Shepherd enjoyed the dog park at the campground.

Spook Hill

Spook Hill, Lake Wales, Florida

I bought this book, Weird Florida a few years after moving to Florida. The book has interesting and spooky places to visit in the state, and one of them was Spook Hill in Lake Wales. A short drive away from the camping resort.

I was so excited to visit this place and experiencing this optical illusion that makes you feel like you are rolling up a hill. There are several stories surrounding the hill from an alligator to a pirate, just reading the stories is fascinating. Just a warning, don’t bring cynical boys with you, they will ruin the illusion. If you are near the area, it’s definitely worth the trip to find it and experience Spook Hill for yourself.

Camping Resorts

We usually avoid camping resorts because they are expensive and a little fancy us. Canopy Oaks was a little pricey, but what you get in return was worth it. This is a beautiful park to just relax in, and let the kids run and play. Enjoy the experience of camping without roughing it.

I would recommend bringing your bikes, although a lot of campers brought their golf carts, to get around the campground.

The staff was courteous and helpful. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed.

To get more information visit Resort at Canopy Oaks. I highly recommend this campground for a camping getaway. It was an amazing camping experience for my family, and really spoiled them on what camping can be. Also read about the one other resort we experienced, North Beach Camping Resort. They are both great choices for when getting into a Florida State Park is not an option.

Happy Camping!
