How to Find and Reserve a Campsite

Finding a campsite in can be frustrating, especially trying to book a favorite state park. As popularity of camping increases, finding a campground with vacancies is becoming a challenge. With a bit of planning and sometimes a quick internet connection you can find the perfect campsite to reserve.

National Park Campgrounds

National Park campgrounds, including national forest campgrounds can be a little bit more rustic than some campers are use to. Sometimes you are lucky to get just the basics of water and a restroom, but others like Salt Springs have full hookups. Tent camping may also be the only type of camping available. It just depends on where you are going and how close to nature you want to be. To explore campgrounds in the National Park Service and make a reservation click here.

State Parks

The key to finding a spot at a state park is planning ahead. Sometimes close to a year in advance. For some people, like us, that is nearly impossible, but if really want a reservation at some of the most popular state campgrounds, planning months in advance is a must.

State parks are often located in the most picturesque settings that a particular state has to offer. They usually have historical features and breathtaking views.

Every state park we have stayed in the states of Florida, Georgia and North Carolina have been clean and well maintained. Most of the state parks offer electric and water hookups. Sewer hookups if you are lucky and dump stations are usually available. They all had rangers that were willing to help and answer questions.

If you want to be close to nature, state parks would be the first option. The state parks do not all use the same reservation system. You will have to visit the state you want to make a reservation in and go from there. For Florida it is here.
