A Weekend Camping Trip at Rock Crusher Canyon

We snagged a camping reservation at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort for this weekend and had a relaxing time. This is a RV resort with a lot of amenities that is sure to please everyone in the family.

Location

Rock Crusher Canyon is located just outside of Crystal River in Florida. The address is 237 S. Rock Crusher Road, about 5 miles from downtown Crystal River. This makes it a fantastic location for those looking to camp while enjoying the springs and exploring the historic downtown.

Campsite

Our campsite, 411, was a nicely shaded, well kept spot to spend the weekend. It did have a picnic table and full hookups. This was also a pull through spot, eliminating the dreaded camper backing in drama. Campfires are allowed, but not all sites have campfire rings. If you want a campfire make sure to bring your own campfire ring. We bought one we happened to see at Lowes. Make sure to get one that is packable and easy to take down.

Campfire at Rock Crusher

It’s not a camping trip without a cozy fire on a cool night. And I got to use my pine cone fire starters.

There are bathhouses scattered around the campground as well as laundry facilities. If you don’t have a camper, they do offer cottage rentals. Tent camping is not allowed.

Amenities

There are so many amenities to enjoy at this campground, check out their website for a complete list, but here a few to view.

Heated Pool at Rock Crusher Canyon

Pool

The heated pool was my son’s favorite spot at Rock Crusher Canyon. It didn’t matter that the nights were getting a bit chilly, he still wanted to go to the pool. He absolutely loved that it was heated and we had hard time getting him out of the pool.

This looks like a fun spot for the young kids to hang out in.

Hiking

Hiking Trail at Rock Crusher Canyon

There is a hidden hiking trail guarded by Bigfoot, or the Skunk Ape if you are from Florida, on the Rock Crusher Canyon Resort. Not really, but the trail is not on a map.

Hiking Trail

This trail is not for the faint hearted or those who do like heights. This might not be a good hike for the very young or those who have trouble getting around. This hike into the remains of an old rock quarry does have amazing views of the amphitheater.

I can see a face in the rock formation above that I spotted on the trail. My family thinks I’m crazy, but can you see it?

Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort

This is a fabulous RV resort for the whole family. Be sure to check out their website for current prices and to make a reservation.

We had a blast here and at Crystal River. I am planning a future post about our adventures in town. It was amazing!

Definitely put this resort on your list of campgrounds to visit, especially if you looking for a campsite near the springs.

Happy Camping!
