Simple Cinnamon Pull Apart Rolls in a Dutch Oven
We made these simple Cinnamon Pull Apart Rolls in our Dutch Oven on our last camping trip at Canopy Oaks. They were a snap to make and delicious to devour.
Cinnamon Pull Apart Rolls
1 Bag of Rhodes Cinnamon Rolls (Thawed)
1/2 Stick of Butter (cubed)
1/3 Cup Cinnamon and Sugar Mixture
Cooking Spray
Cut each thawed cinnamon roll into 4 sections. Then place them either directly in a well seasoned Dutch Oven or use a greased Dutch Oven liner. Cube the butter and place on top of the rolls. Next sprinkle the top of the rolls with the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Set the lid on the Dutch Oven and allow the rolls to double in size. Place 14 briquettes on the lid of the Dutch Oven and 7 below the oven for the temperature to be at 350 degrees. Bake for 45 minutes, checking it often. Baking times will vary. Two packs of cream cheese frosting come in the cinnamon roll bag. Spread the frosting on top of cinnamon rolls while they are still warm. Serve and enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 Bag of Rhodes Cinnamon Rolls (thawed)
- 1/2 Stick of Butter (cubed)
- 1/3 Cup Cinnamon and Sugar mixture
- Cooking Spray (if needed)
These are simple ingredients that when combined make a yummy campfire treat!
Instructions
Step One
Cut each cinnamon roll into 4 pieces. I then rolled them into little balls and placed them into a greased Dutch Oven liner. You can put them directly into a well seasoned Dutch Oven if you would like. I just like the liners, because there is less mess when it come to cleaning the Dutch Oven.
Step Two
Cube the butter and place on top of the cinnamon rolls.
Step Three
Sprinkle the top of the cinnamon rolls with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
Step Four
Put the lid on the Dutch Oven and let the rolls rise until they double in size. This may take over an hour, depending on where you have them. I tried to raise my outside but it was a bit chilly that night, so I put them inside my camper close to the heater.
Step Five
Time to bake. You should already have your briquettes ready, about 21. Place 14 on the top lid of the Dutch Oven and 7 below it. Please note that this is for a 10 inch Dutch Oven. Your ratio may vary if using a different size of Dutch Oven. Using the above briquette placement will get your baking temperature to about 350 degrees. Bake for 45 minutes, make sure to look at the rolls at 30 minutes and estimate how much more time you will need. Make sure the cinnamon rolls are a golden brown on top and not doughy in the middle. Baking times will vary, especially when using a Dutch Oven.
Step Six
While the rolls are still warm, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top of them. Serve and enjoy!
This is the second Dutch Oven recipe that I have used Rhodes Bake and Serve Rolls. They in no way endorsed this blog post, and honestly know that my blog exists. I’m just becoming a huge fan of their rolls. The rolls are so convenient when camping and taste amazing. Check out my other blog post, Pull Apart Garlic Roll Bites adapting their classic Dutch Oven recipe. You will soon become a fan of these rolls too!
Happy Camping!
