Have an Amazing Camping Experience at Canopy Oaks
Our Spring Break plans of camping in Georgia changed last week but we were able to grab a campsite at Resort at Canopy Oaks. We are not resort campers, we usually camp at state parks, but this resort may change our minds. Resort at Canopy Oaks is located outside of Lake Wales, Florida. Our Campsite This probably the best campsite, site 167, we have ever had while camping. This is a newer resort, so everything is pristine. The site was level, paved and clean. Every site offers full hookups; water, electric and sewer. As well as your own fire pit. Firewood is available on site at the Country Store. All…

A Fun Filled Weekend at Myakka River State Park
We had a fun filled weekend at Florida’s Myakka River State Park, located just south of Tampa. It was a great way to spend quality family time before the busy Christmas season starts. About Myakka River State Park Myakka River State Park officially opened to the public in 1941. It was one of the first state parks in Florida to be created as part of the New Deal program, the Civilian Conservation Corp. You will see several of their projects while exploring the park. The Myakka River area is abundant with wildlife. Several species of birds make it their home, making this a bird watchers paradise. But for us it…

Camping and Exploring at O’Leno State Park, Florida
We spent a beautiful fall weekend camping at O’Leno State Park in northern Florida. This was such a peaceful park to relax in and unwind after a hectic week. O’Leno State Park O’Leno is located near High Falls in Florida along the Santa Fe River. The park is full of picturesque points of interest and wildlife. Just waiting for you to explore. I found it interesting that O’Leno State Park was one of original Florida state parks when it opened in 1940. This park’s rich history connected to Civil Conservation Corps of the 1930’s and its past location of the lost town of Leno will enchant any history buff. This…

Camping at Huguenot Memorial Park
We spent the weekend camping at Huguenot Memorial Park, a city campground in Jacksonville, Florida. This was the perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of nature, passing ships and relaxing on a white sanded beach. Campsites The campsites at Huguenot are close together, but it didn’t feel crowded to us. We had a corner spot, #43, that was located near the road to the beach. The roadway can be busy with vehicles at times, but traffic stops a 7 at night when the beach closes to vehicles. The campsites have electric hookups, which is fantastic for running your air conditioner in the camper. There are no water hook ups. We…

Relaxing at North Beach Camp Resort
We spent a few days this week relaxing at North Beach Camp Resort in Saint Augustine, Florida. It was a great way to social distance, but to also enjoy fresh air at the beach. Our plans of camping at Anastasia State Park we cancelled a few days before our planned camping trip. Finding this gem of a campground was a stroke of luck. North Beach Camp Resort is situated off the coast of Saint Augustine on a barrier island. It is ideally located near the beach, which is one the reasons we chose this location to camp. The campground is close to the historic sites of Saint Augustine. Castillo de…
