    Dutch Oven Pizza

On our recent camping trip to Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park we successfully made Dutch Oven Pizza. My oldest son had told us last year how easy it was to make, he learned to make it while working on his cooking merit badge in scouts. Turns out it is easy to make with pre-made ingredients and a little prep work. Ingredients Favorite toppings aside, the main ingredients are pre-made dough, pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. We purchased our dough at the Publix bakery. Make your own if you have great recipe, but make it before the campout and store in a refrigerator/cooler until ready to use. Pre-made Pizza Dough Pizza…

    Dutch Oven Orange Crush Cake

We had a great time exploring Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in Jacksonville, Florida last weekend. I had a chance to try a couple of recipes in our Dutch Oven while we were camping at this pretty campground. Dutch Oven Orange Crush Cake was a simple cake to make and a delicious dessert after hamburgers over the grill. Ingredients There really are only two main ingredients for this cake. Orange cake mix and Orange Crush. Frosting is optional, but really is it? Orange Cake Mix 12oz Can Of Orange Crush Tub of Frosting (optional) Directions Pour the cake mix into a well greased foil insert or directly into a seasoned Dutch…

    Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park

Our Father’s Day weekend was spent camping at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a city park with amazing beach access to Jacksonville beaches. We all loved this campground and had a fantastic time exploring all it had to offer. There is a lot of things to do at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, also known as Hanna Park. It was fairly easy to find and is a great location to the beaches. Camping The campsites were a bit small, but offered some privacy will foliage between each site. The sites are full hook-ups, which makes things so much easier, but there is also a dump station located…

    Pop Rock’n Popcorn

We are packing up and getting ready for our next camping adventure. I thought it would be a great time to practice my sister Stacie’s popcorn recipe, Pop Rock’n Popcorn, for our camping snack this weekend. I plan on making this for our 4th of July Blowout Party when I head back home next month. Pop Rock’n Popcorn is a fantastic snack for the 4th of July or a camping weekend. The sweet taste combined with the surprise pop bursting in your mouth is great for watching fireworks or sitting by a crackling fire at night. Recipe 24 Cups of Popped Popcorn (6 quarts) 6 squares Almond Bark 4 Packs…

5 Things to Take on a Nighttime Kayak Tour

Our family had an amazing adventure last night. We experienced a bioluminescence tour at the Merritt Island National Refuge in Florida. Bioluminescence is the creation of light by a living organism and the release of this light. During the months of May-October in Florida you can experience this amazing phenomenon. The water glows when you move your paddle through the water and you can see fish streak all around you. I recommend the clear kayak tours because you can see all of these organisms glowing under you. I highly recommend Get Up And Go Kayaking tour company. Our guide Penny was absolutely amazing and informative. She kept track of all…
