    Hart Springs

With the kids off for spring break it was the perfect time to get away for the weekend and go camping.  We chose a place in Florida that was only a couple of hours away.  Hart Springs is located in Gilchrist county near the town of Bell, Florida.  It is a county park that has both RV and tent camping sights. We had a fantastic time at this beautiful campground.  Our camp sight was spacious.  The boys had room to run around and we didn’t have to worry about our territorial dog barking at the neighbors.  There was not a grill or fire ring at our site, so keep that…

    Prepping the Camper

We are getting ready for our next adventure this weekend.  Time to prep the camper with a little help from a willing volunteer. We started out by giving the camper a good scrub down.  The camper had been in storage for a few months and really needed it.  It was a little chilly today by Florida standards so it was a quick wash and rinse. We then moved inside to prep where it was a little warmer. Prepping the toilet is easy but so necessary.  Just drop a tablet in and pour 3-5 gallons as you flush.  This is what we use, but I think any brand you find will…

    Our Jayco Camper

We had been searching for a camper for a few months before we found one that fit our budget and needs.  We went to RV dealerships and shows trying to find the perfect camper for us.  First thing we found out was that we were limited on what we could get because of towing capability of the truck we had at the time.  A seventeen foot camper was the biggest we could go and it couldn’t have a lot of options.  The second thing we found out was how hard is was going to be to find a camper that size with a bunkbeds for the boys.  As soon was…

    Jellystone

Family camping at Jellystone is what family camping is all about.  This is as family friendly as you can get.  This campground was jammed packed with so many fun options for the whole family to explore.  This particular campground was located in Madison, Florida, jellystonefla.com. Play in the Water Hands down my boys enjoyed the inflatable obstacle course in the pond the best.  They opened and closed this water play area.  I will be honest and say I was nervous about letting them go in, but my fears were quickly diminished.  Life vests were required on everyone entering the pond, and staff patrolled the area very well.  My older son kept…

Essentials – What to pack in your camper

What to put in your camper?  That is the quintessential question to ask.  You have to treat your camper like your house on wheels.  The basics that you would need in your home are what you will need in your camper. Wal-Mart is not always nearby. There are still somethings that we need that we have not purchased yet, but they are on my imaginary list in my head.  This was a learning experience for us.  Like why did we bring a baking dish, our camper doesn’t even have an oven, to how did we not think to bring grilling tools.
